Actual costs, however, vary by field, provider, state, course length and student status. In terms of duration, Certificate III commonly takes around one year, Certificate IV around one to one and a half years, and Diploma or Advanced Diploma programs generally take between one and three years. A university Bachelor degree usually takes three years, although some disciplines require four years or longer. Actual study time may also be affected by full-time or part-time enrolment, placement arrangements, credit exemptions and prior learning.

Certificate III, Certificate IV and Bachelor degrees are all formal qualifications within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), but they sit at different levels. You can understand core subjects, practical projects, placements or other internship arrangements that may appear later, and see how what you are learning now affects the next stage instead of only reacting to the task in front of you each week.

Yes, but we will not begin by assuming that changing institutions is necessarily the better choice. We first look at why you want to transfer—for example, course content not meeting expectations, academic pressure, tuition costs, location, teaching style, service experience, or a desire to change your field or future direction. Identifying the source of the problem is essential before deciding whether a transfer would actually resolve it.

Once we understand your circumstances, we can help compare target institutions and courses, including entry requirements, content, tuition, duration, commencement dates, location, assessment formats, placement arrangements and future pathways. If you have already completed part of your current program, we can also help you understand the possibility of applying for credit or Recognition of Prior Learning. The receiving institution makes the final decision on whether credit is granted and how much.

After a target course is confirmed, Kangaroo can assist, where appropriate, with organising application documents, submitting the application, following its progress, managing the offer and preparing for enrolment. However, a transfer does not end with receiving a new offer. Whether you can transfer may also depend on your current stage of study, your existing institution’s rules, the new course requirements, and your CoE and visa circumstances.

We therefore help you calculate the differences in time, cost and course structure before and after a transfer so you can decide whether changing institutions is worthwhile. Questions involving specific visa conditions, visa risk or migration advice will be referred to an appropriately qualified partner.

Creating this kind of program requires substantial preliminary research. This includes defining the program theme and learning objectives, identifying suitable education and industry partners, designing learning and field activities, confirming business or industry visits, and planning accommodation, transport, insurance, safety management and scheduling. Each theme also requires partners with the relevant resources and capacity to host participants, so adequate preparation must be completed before a program is formally launched.

Once the theme, participating organisations, intended audience, schedule and fee structure of the first programs are confirmed, they will be announced through Kangaroo’s official website and accounts. We care more about the practical experience a program can deliver than launching an incomplete tourism product simply to open sooner.
